The Tecom Challenger System

Each Challenger panel represents one intelligent controller in the system and is equipped with its own microprocessor and system database, which enables it to stand-alone and make decisions locally. By using distributed processing architecture, the system is more secure if a communications failure occurs between the host PC and the site. It is also extremely efficient, as there is an instant response to alarm activations and card reading, regardless of the size of the system.

The Challenger is designed to accommodate facilities ranging from a few doors and alarm inputs to systems with thousands of doors. This is easily achieved because the Challenger is modular and the "Add As You Go" simplicity allows you to expand as the demand for doors, readers, keypads, partitions or alarm inputs increase. The flexibility of the Challenger is unsurpassed.

Tecom Graphical Alarm Handling & Point Control

Graphic alarm maps can be configured to provide detailed information about any I/O point in the system. The graphic map displays the I/O point and allows the operator to perform manual overrides directly from the map.

TITAN implements Point and Click operation with pop up menus for ease of use. The Graphical maps allow for dynamic tracing of users through the site and all alarm events may be actioned from maps rather than the Alarm Window.

HVAC, Lighting & Lift Control

TITAN can be used to provide simple solutions to the management of HVAC systems at any location. While not a full energy management system, Challenger can control vital plant and lighting functions by the change in status of any input, output, area or time zone.

In fact, Challenger is known to manage lighting better than stand alone lighting systems. This is because Challenger controls these functions relative to the presence of users on site and not simply by time zones. Challenger can control HVAC and lighting systems when areas are armed or disarmed, therefore providing efficient and effective management of these functions.

Alarm Reporting To Central Station

Off site reporting can be achieved by programming the Challenger to report all alarm events to a Remote Monitoring Station with or without the connection of the Host PC.

Alarm reporting ensures that every Challenger Input, Door, Field controller or in fact any device on the LAN will automatically report its change of status on a 24 Hour basis. The Challenger uses industry standard reporting formats such as High Speed Extended, Contact ID and Tecom Format.

Additionally, Challenger can use various mediums for signal transmission. Dialup via PSTN, Direct Line, Securitel, Mobile Data or TCP/IP are all supported.
